2018.04.26 – Shanghai (CN) – We visited Jenny’s older brother. Later, we went back to Yu Garden for some additional souvenirs. We had some dumplings for lunch on a 3rd level food court for a fraction of the price we had paid on our earlier visit to the Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant. We enjoyed a large family evening meal as part of Jenny’s older brother invitation.
2018.04.27 – Shanghai (CN) – We visited a flea market in search of additional luggage for Jessica’s return to London. We visited Jenny’s older brother. We had lunch at Jingyu’s place. Later, we relaxed at our hotel. We returned to Wan Dao Japanesse buffet restaurant with some family members for dinner.
2018.04.28 – Shanghai (CN) – We escorted Jessica to the airport in a taxi. We took the long subway ride back to Jingyu’s for lunch. We returned at our hotel for the remainder of day. Jenny met her older nephew to return a necklace.
2018.04.29 – Shanghai (CN) – Although we had purchased our train tickets online for our upcoming 3 day self-guided visit to Nanjing, we had to pick-up the tickets at the train station. We opted to pick-up the ticket the day ahead of our departure to avoid any possible delays. We had our evening meal at a Pizza Hut outlet near Jingyu’s subway station. We made a short visit to both of Jenny’s brothers.
2018.04.30 – Shanghai – Nanjing (CN) – Our Shanghai hotel’s restaurant was extremely busy for breakfast as several bus load of kids were staying there for an apparent musical event. We took the subway to the train station. The bullet train to Nanjing took only 1h 40mins. We took a taxi to our Nanjing hotel. Sadly our hotel was rather far from any of the subway stations. We took taxi to the subway station. We had our evening meal at Queen Chef restaurant. We had a quick visit along Fuziomiao street but it was very busy on the eve of the International Labor day. We returned to our hotel via a subway and a taxi.
2018.05.01 – Nanjing (CN) – We had some Chinese pears from our hotel’s courtesy counter and left-over sesame buns for breakfast. We took a taxi and a subway to a park. We took a long walk along Xuanwu Lake Scenic Area. We stopped along the way at McDonald’s for ice cream, fries and coffee. We walked the Nanjing Capital wall to a subway station. It rained heavily during our subway ride to Mochou Lake park but we declined to enter given the hefty entrance fee. We had a very nice evening meal at a popular Nanjing restaurant. We returned to our hotel via subway and taxi.
2018.05.02 – Nanjing (CN) – We bought some steam buns nearby our hotel from small home business. We took a taxi to x Scenic area to have a good view of the Yangtze river bridge. Unfortunately, the heavy smog hindered our view of the bridge under renovation. We walked to a nearby shopping mall for a coffee and lemonade. We took the bus (16) which brought us back to the Fuziamo area. We stopped at a nice (but expensive) coffee shop for a latte and a banana split. The pedestrian streets were significantly less crowded than our first night visit. We took a 45mins river boat cruise on the Qinhuai river. We walked most of the pedestrians streets browsing for gift/souvenir ideas. We walked a few kms back in the city center where we enjoyed an evening meal at a Korean BBQ restaurant. We took the subway and taxi back to our hotel
2018.05.03 – Nanjing – Shanghai (CN) – As we missed the hotel breakfast time 9:30am closing, we walked to a nearby small shopping mall and managed to get a good latte and muffin for breakfast. Back at the hotel we packed our luggage and check-out of our hotel. We took a taxi to the train station and waited an hour for bullet train departure. The trains in China appears to be extremely punctual. The ride was less than 1h 40mins. We took the subway from the Shanghai train station to our hotel. After resting for few hours, we headed to the Jinyu’s home for our evening meal. We visited the older brother before returning back to our hotel.
2018.05.04 – Shanghai (CN) – Our hotel’s breakfast restaurant had few people and was very relaxing. We headed out with Jinyu to Yu Gardens, once again, to continue our souvenir shopping.
2018.05.05 – Shanghai (CN) –Jenny and Jinyu had breakfast at our hotel. Jenny and I took a long subway ride to the watertown of Zhujiajiao. Our visit was hampered by the rain that fell throughout the day.
2018.05.06 – Shanghai (CN) – We bought some extra luggage in preparation for our flight back home. We invited the extended family for an evening meal at a restaurant.
2018.05.07 – Shanghai (CN) – We took the subway with Jingyu to visit the nearby watertown of xx. We had a nice evening meal at a Korean restaurant with Jingyu.
2018.05.08 – Shanghai (CN) – Ottawa – We spent the morning packing our luggage. Our booked transportation to the airport struggled to load our bicycle box but in the end we got everything in with enough space for us and Jingyu.
